About Cosmetology
The Cosmetology program at Independence Community College provides hands-on training in hair, skin, and nail care. Students gain the knowledge and skills needed for a successful career in the beauty industry.
Program Options:

Full-Time: Complete the program in just 3 semesters.

Part-Time: Begin with 2 part-time semesters, followed by 2 full-time semesters.
Students also have the opportunity to earn an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree by completing 15 credit hours of general education coursework in addition to the Cosmetology certificate.
After completing 320 clock hours, students are eligible to begin working with real clients in ICC’s on-campus student salon, gaining valuable, supervised experience.

Nail Technician
The Nail Tech program at ICC is a separate, specialized course focused entirely on nail care and design. This part-time, one-semester program provides in-depth training in:

Acrylic application

Gel-X extensions

Manicures and pedicures

Nail art and design
-
Sanitation and safety practices

- The student will be able to complete 1500 clock hours in the Cosmetology Program
- The student will be able to successfully pass the Kansas State Board Cosmetology Written Theory exam
- The student will be able to successfully pass the Kansas State Board Written Practical exam
- Student will demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
